Scheck Hillel Boys' Soccer Win Jewish Soccer Classic
The Scheck Hillel varsity boys' soccer team defeated David Posnack Jewish Day School 7-0 to win the 4th Annual Jewish Soccer Classic, Thursday, November 8.
Senior Alexander Almosny scored the first goal of the game to give the Lions the boost they needed to start the match. He finished with two goals in the win over the Rams.
Junior David Birnbaum also scored two goals for the Lions. Other scorers for Scheck Hillel included sophomores Leon Sion and Alexander Bacal and senior David Sternberg.
Almosny and Sion were named as the tournament's Most Valueable Players for Scheck Hillel.
Although the Lions took first place all of the other teams played two days of great soccer. David Posnack, Katz Yeshiva and Yeshiva of Flatbush finished second, third and fourth respectively.
The Lions begin the regular season with a rematch against David Posnack, Thursday, November 15 at 5:45PM.
