Students design and create everyday objects or garments to enjoy, including tote bags, pillows, challah covers, stuffed animals, pencil cases, aprons, ba, headbands, hats, and MANY more! Students learn different techniques to embellish and combine fabric, leather and other materials and develop the skills to incorporate patterns, stamps, appliqué, image transfers, and quilting into their one-of-a-kind art pieces. The class is customized to the interest and pace of each student. Sewing and Mixed Media Textile is a place where children in Grades 6-9 can gather together and learn how to express themselves. Students learn a practical life skill that is rarely taught anymore, often discover a new hobby and passion that they intrinsically enjoy, and make new friends in the process. Every material needed - fabric, thread, scissors, ribbon, fluff, etc - is provided and included in the cost. Both boys and girls are encouraged to sign up!
