Cross Country Competes For a Chance at Districts
The Scheck Hillel co-ed cross country team competed at Markham Park in a meet hosted by Sagemont, Tuesday, October 17th.
In just their second meet of the season, the Lions competed against multiple schools known for their running ability and managed to finish with runners in the top 50.
On the girls side there were a total of 75 runner. Scheck Hillel's Delcastillo sisters were the top finishers on the team. Junior Dara placed 28th overall while freshman Aliya finished 29th. The girls finished within three seconds of each other running 22:52 and 22:55.8 respectively. Freshman Danna Fischbach and Sofia Nassim rounded up the top forty. Fischbach finished 36th while Nassim finished 39th.
For the boys, junior Aaron Ben-Shmuel was Scheck Hillel's top runner. He placed 36th out of 106 runners with a time of 22:50. Junior Jonathan Abbo placed 46th with a time of 23:40 and sophomore Josh Schmutter made the top 50 with a time of 23:59 finishing 49th.
Scheck Hillel will compete in Districts, Tuesday, October 24th at Tradewinds Park. The girls will begin at 10 a.m. followed by the boys at 11 a.m.
