Senior Named StandWithUs Intern

Mazal tov to Class of 2023 Senior Joelle Kirsch on being named a StandWithUs 2022-2023 Kenneth Leventhal High School Intern! In this position, Joelle will develop leadership and advocacy skills through mentorship and networking with like-minded student leaders. She follows Natalie Esquenazi ‘23, who held the position last school year.

Joelle recently attended a 4-day StandWithUs conference and reported on her learning:

"Using the knowledge that I have gained from my fifteen-year Scheck Hillel education, I am being taught how to properly string that information together in order to stand up for myself and my people. I recently attended a conference in Los Angeles, and over the course of the four days I was there, I learned my legal rights when it comes to anti-semitism, how to fight Holocaust denial and how to argue against those who make anti-semitic remarks. I am looking forward to continuing my experience with StandWithUs and am extremely eager to learn more in order to teach others."

This internship complements Joelle's experience as a Jaime and Raquel Gilinski Hillel Ambassadr.

Through the internship, student leaders benefit from these opportunities:
  • Raise awareness and effect change in your community that can lead to a more inclusive society free of antisemitism and all forms of hate
  • Connect and network with impact-oriented high school student leaders from across North America, including an alumni community of over 750 leaders
  • Engage with leading experts and educators at two national conferences
  • Develop the skills to be an upstander on the future college campus and in your professional life
