Grade 11 Preps for Application Process

The Class of 2021 and their parents met online with counselors this week to discuss next steps in the college application process. While there are some unanswered questions due to COVID-19, the time is now for juniors to stay on track with the application process and to focus on senior year academic performance.

If you are in Grade 11:
  • Have you had your individual college planning meeting with college counselor?
  • Are you deep into list-building: 5-7 schools ideally?
  • Do you have a basic knowledge of Common and Coalition Applications
  • Have you drafted an activity list crafted to reflect the unique format of applications?
  • Have you loosely drafted 3 essays?
  • Do you have an understanding of your own testing timeline (ACT/SAT)?

A few items to remember:
  • Senior year academic performance might matter more than usual.
  • Focus on mid-year transcripts for EA/ED.
  • Ask your college choices about Gap Year options.
