Head of School Search

Head of School Search
We are proud of where Scheck Hillel is today, and equally committed to where it is going. This page will serve as a central place for our community to stay informed throughout the Head of School search process, including important updates, communications, timelines, and opportunities for engagement.

About the Search
The Board of Governors is conducting a national search to identify Scheck Hillel Community School’s next Head of School.

The search is being led by a dedicated Search Committee of Board members and is supported by Tradition Search Partners, a firm that specializes in Jewish day school leadership searches. This is a thoughtful and deliberate process, and one the Board is undertaking with the care and responsibility our community deserves.

    Dear Scheck Hillel Community,

We are grateful for the high level of engagement we have seen so far in the Head of School search announced on Monday and are writing to share additional opportunities to participate.

As we mentioned in our last email to the community, our Head of School search consultant will be on campus Wednesday, April 29 through Friday, May 1 to meet with Scheck Hillel community members in person and via Zoom.

Lydia Musher of Tradition Search Partners hopes to speak with every stakeholder interested in participating in the Head of School search. Because our community is large, we are offering both in-person and Zoom meetings, as well as waitlists for each small-group session.

Please use the instructions on the appropriate sign-up sheets below to reserve a meeting:
    Signup sheet for employees
    Signup sheet for parents

Thank you to the more than 200 individuals who have already submitted the SHCS Head of School Search Priorities Survey sent earlier this week. If you have not yet completed it, please do so by April 29, 2026.

Many respondents indicated in the survey that they would like to be contacted for further discussion. We appreciate your interest. Lydia will reach out by email as she prepares for her visit to Miami.

Our consultant is available to answer any questions or receive any input you may have. Her direct email address is lydia@TraditionSearchPartners.com. Please feel free to contact her by email or text message.

    Best,

    Jacques Bessoudo

  • Update: April 20, 2026

    Dear Scheck Hillel Community,

On behalf of the Board of Governors, I am writing to provide you with an update on the search for our new Head of School.

With Rabbi Leubitz’s term ending in summer 2027, the board has started the process of identifying his successor. Following a thorough due diligence process, the Board has engaged Tradition Search Partners, a boutique firm that has worked with several large Jewish schools in South Florida. Lydia Musher, the firm’s founder, will serve as our consultant throughout the process, from initial school research to selection, and ultimately through the hiring and transition of our new Head of School.

A Head of School transition is a pivotal moment for a school, and we want to proactively include our Scheck Hillel community in the process. We ask that you participate as much and as frequently as possible to ensure that every voice is heard.

The first way to engage is to fill out this brief Head of School Search Priorities Survey for employees, parents, board members, and the broader school community, to identify the priorities in character and focus for the next Head of School. Please complete it by April 29, 2026. We will report back to you about the survey results.

The second way to participate is to sign up to speak with Ms. Musher in small-group meetings during her upcoming campus visit on Wednesday, April 29 and Thursday, April 30 so that you can contribute to her perspective about our school and community. We will send an invitation email shortly with the specific times and locations of these opportunities.

We will also offer Zoom meetings the following week for anyone unable to attend in person. Between the in-person visit and the Zoom meetings, Ms. Musher hopes to speak with every stakeholder interested in participating in the process.

Finally, Ms. Musher is reachable at lydia@TraditionSearchPartners.com. Please feel free to reach out to her with any input, questions, or if you have any candidates you would like to nominate. You can also reach out to the Board’s Search Committee at headofschoolsearch@ehillel.org.

We will update you in approximately one month, after Ms. Musher has conducted her initial research.

    Warm regards,

    Jacques Bessoudo
Chair of the Board of Governors
  • Update: January 22, 2026

    Dear Scheck Hillel Community,

One of the most important responsibilities of the Board of Governors is to ensure not just the current success of our school, but its long-term strength and continuity. In that spirit, I am writing to share an update on our leadership planning.

After a series of discussions regarding the school’s strategic direction, Rabbi Leubitz and the Board of Governors have agreed that he will complete his current contract term as Head of School in June 2027.

    A Legacy of Strength
Rabbi Leubitz joined Scheck Hillel in 2022 and has led the school through an important period of growth and strengthening. He has been a devoted partner in that mission. During his tenure, he has overseen a period of historic enrollment growth and has helped foster the vibrant, positive spirit that defines our hallways today. We are deeply appreciative of his contributions and the strong position the school enjoys today.

    The Next Chapter
As we look to the future, Scheck Hillel is continuing its growth trajectory to ensure our school remains a premier institution for generations to come. As part of the Board’s responsibility for strategic planning, we are initiating the process to identify our next Head of School. We are sharing this news 18 months in advance to ensure a smooth, professional, and deliberate transition. This timeline places the school in a position of strength to conduct a successful search, while Rabbi Leubitz continues to lead Scheck Hillel with the full support of the Board through June 2027.

To ensure a seamless process, the Board is already working on a comprehensive transition plan, and we are immediately forming a dedicated Search Committee. We will share more details on the process in the coming months. Please rest assured that we are managing every step of this journey with great care and an unwavering commitment to our students' continued success.

We look forward to celebrating Rabbi Leubitz’s achievements over the next year and a half, and we are excited about the bright future ahead for Scheck Hillel.

    Sincerely,

    Jacques Bessoudo
Chair of the Board of Governors
