Mazal Tov on your upcoming celebration!
Please read the following guidelines pertaining to Bar and Bat Mitzvah celebrations.
Scheck Hillel is home to families of all levels of observance, and we celebrate being a diverse and inclusive community.
As a service to our families, Scheck Hillel maintains a B’nei Mitzvah Calendar to help families thoughtfully coordinate celebrations, minimize conflicts within a grade level, and support strong community participation.
As you plan your family’s celebration, we ask that you uphold our school’s core values of kavod, chessed, emet, shalom, and ruach. These guidelines are intended to ensure that every child can attend, participate in, and genuinely enjoy the celebrations of their peers.
All Celebrations Must Be Strictly Kosher
The entirety of the event must follow the laws of Kashrut (not a Kosher section). For your convenience, families should explore kosher catering and vendor options through the
Kosher Miami Directory, or you can reach out to Rabbi Shlomo Sprung, Rabbinic Head, for clarification and suggestions at
sprung@ehillel.org
Celebrations May Not Take Place on Shabbat or Yom Tov
To allow all invited guests the opportunity to attend and enjoy the simcha, celebrations may not be scheduled on Shabbat or Yom Tov.
Inclusivity & Belonging
Please invite your child’s entire grade, or all students of the same gender within the grade. Families who prefer a smaller gathering are welcome to do so; school policy does not permit inviting more than 25% of your child’s grade.
We encourage families to support one another by attending and celebrating all simchas throughout the year. When possible, families should avoid booking more than one celebration per weekend, although it is understandable that this limitation is not always feasible.
To promote participation while minimizing interruption of the school day, we invite families to host services on campus for family and friends.
For scheduling, logistics, and additional information, please contact the Operations Office at extension 836, or

Important: Approximately six months prior to each registered celebration, Scheck Hillel will reach out to each family to review school guidelines and confirm alignment with the school policies, found in the
Student-Parent Handbook (page 32).
Our goal is to work collaboratively with families to support celebrations that reflect both your family’s simcha and our shared community values. If a celebration does not comply with the policies and Scheck Hillel becomes aware of it prior to the event date, a school administrator will contact the family to review and remind them of the school’s policy. If the family does not comply with adjusting the celebration to adhere to all aspects of the celebration policy, Scheck Hillel may dismiss the family so they may enroll in a school aligned with their practices and values. If a family does not adhere to the policy and Scheck Hillel becomes aware of the violation after the celebration has taken place, the family’s eligibility for re-enrollment for the following school year will be subject to review.
Thank you for partnering with us to create celebrations that reflect our values, strengthen our community, and ensure every student feels included in these meaningful milestones. If you have any questions, or need class/grade lists for invitation purposes, please reach out to
