Students Win CADENA Competition

Congratulations to our Grade 8 Design/STEM students on their wins in the 2023 Regional CADENA Initiative Competition! Jaime Fridzon and Tamar Grobman earned First Place and Liyam Ben-Shalom took Second Place in this annual challenge. They will advance to the CADENA International Competition on May 28!
"This will be the first time Miami has been represented at this international competition," noted their Design/STEM teacher, Joshua Rosenstein.

Tamar and Jaime's project proposes the production of woven face masks out of medicine native grasses to combat tuberculosis in Haiti. Liyam's project proposes the production of home shutters from recycled plastics to combat property loss and loss of life in Haiti.

Commenting on the quality of Scheck Hillel's student projects, Cadena representative Dana Nicolaievsky said, "...the level of investigation, analysis of the situation, and approach to finding a solution to the problem have stood out, even among projects from other countries."

CADENA's mission is to relieve human suffering by reducing the vulnerability of populations living in constant risk of disasters and crises, fostering a culture of prevention and inclusion.

Mazal tov to our students and to Mr. Rosenstein on this well-deserved recognition!"
