Scheck Hillel Community School is pleased to announce the 2020-2021 Jaime and Raquel Gilinski Hillel Ambassadors. Mauricio Fuhrman ‘21, Liat Kirsch ‘23, Gabriella Shiro ‘22, Elliot Sternberg ‘21 and Tatiana Wainer ‘21 became the newest generation of student ambassadors who exemplify leadership and achievement in academics, extracurricular activities or service learning. They represent the school's values, striving to reach their maximum potential as lifelong learners, and stand tall among Scheck Hillel’s rising generation of committed, knowledgeable leaders.
“With great appreciation for the Gilinski family and special recognition of faculty advisor Andrew Butler, mazal tov to our twelfth generation of Ambassadors and their families,” said Vanessa Donaher, Head of Scheck Hillel Community School. “Becoming a Jaime and Raquel Gilinski Hillel Ambassador is a great honor that they will take with them wherever they go.”
This year, the rigorous application required students to write short essays, produce a video conveying one of Scheck Hillel’s core values, formulate a resume and produce a creative piece; finalists advanced to a panel interview.
The program created by Jaime and Raquel Gilinski was established in 2009 as Scheck Hillel's first merit-based scholarship of its kind. It recognizes students who demonstrate exceptional commitment to education and Scheck Hillel, encouraging lifelong learning and leadership that continuity requires. Since then, it has named more than 100 Ambassadors, now alumni and college students living around the world.
Ambassadors showcase the Scheck Hillel mission through accomplishment and talent - in the classroom, on the field, on stage or through community service. They have graduated to Ivy leagues and top tier schools such as the University of Pennsylvania, Cornell University, University of Miami, University of Florida, Columbia University, Vanderbilt University, University of Michigan, among others. As alumni, college students and young professionals, they carry the lifelong title of Gilinski Hillel Ambassador.
