Delegates Represent At Yeshiva University Model UN

A team of seven Scheck Hillel delegates were among nearly 500 Jewish high school students from across the country - plus Brazil, Canada and South Africa - who participated in Yeshiva University's 2020 Model United Nations (YUNMUN): Alex Bennaroch '22, Elie Fishman '22, Noah Givner '21, Jacob Goldshtein '22, Sadie Slomovitz '22, Alan Wainer '22 and Stephanie Wolak '22 traveled to Stamford, Connecticut, along with Rabbi Elie Ganz, Upper School Judaic Studies teacher and program advisor, to compete in this annual event.

“Our students represented Ukraine: a mission that involved working in committee sessions to negotiate, propose, write and rewrite resolutions addressing major global crises,” Rabbi Ganz noted. “These sessions were intense, running into the early morning hours for some delegates.”

Experiential learning opportunities such as YUNMUN help students develop and sharpen invaluable skills of written and oral communication, negotiation and social-emotional learning. The delegates had the chance to interact with peers from all over the United States and abroad, expanding their circles of leadership and friendship beyond school.
