Scheck Hillel Welcomes New Finance Team

Join us in welcoming Scheck Hillel's new finance team, here to preserve and grow our tradition of fiscal strength and stability and guide us with expertise, wisdom and passion.
 Alan Blass, Director of Finance
Alan’s impressive career comes full circle with this new position, as one of his earliest roles was with the U.S. Department of Education–Office of the Inspector General. He has more than 35 years of experience in forensic accounting and litigation support, including both public and private sectors. For several years, Alan served as the Deputy Chief Investigative Auditor for the New York City Department of Investigation, for which he earned the Outstanding Sustained Performance Award. The past 25 years of work have involved a myriad of corporate and governmental industries.
Alan lectures and writes about a variety of topics for legal, accounting, business and governmental organizations. He serves as the President of the South Florida Chapter of Certified Fraud Examiners, a position he also held in New York. Alan has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Brooklyn College and is a Certified Public Accountant in Florida and New York. He feels like he has come home, reflecting on his memories as a student of the Yeshiva University High School in New York.

Jennifer Tirado, Comptroller
Jennifer comes to Scheck Hillel with extensive experience in investment management from the School District of Palm Beach County, where she led as a senior analyst/project manager, implementing a cash management accounting system for 200 schools and automating a donation system for tens of thousands of employees. There, she created the school district’s first investor relations website, prepared debt issuances and cash flow forecasts, and managed financial reporting. Jennifer previously worked at Office Depot headquarters, where she established a national Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for cash management/accounting. In Washington Mutual Bank’s regional office, she focused on Federal Reserve Bank daily settlements and managing accounts for 40 financial centers. Jennifer’s bachelor’s degree is from Florida Atlantic University and she is pursuing her master’s in business administration in finance is from Nova Southeastern University.

Sharyn Orlan, Finance Manager

Sharyn is a Certified Public Accountant whose career includes forensics, litigation support and crisis management. She previously served as the senior auditor of a large public accounting firm, followed by many years in the private sector in a variety of industries in positions such as controller, treasurer and chief financial officer. Sharyn has worked with court-appointed trustees and receivers on high profile bankruptcies andfinance-related cases. In every role, she has always been instrumental in developing accounting systems and implementing internal controls and procedures. In a 2001 asset purchase, she and her husband sold their privately held manufacturing company to a public company. Sharyn is a graduate of the University of Miami with both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting.
