M'Dor L'Dor Celebrates Generations

M’Dor L’Dor (From Generation to Generation) is a Grade 3 Scheck Hillel tradition and milestone in the journey to trace family roots - shorashim - and to honor those who came before us. The cross-disciplinary project draws upon research, writing, interviewing, critical thinking and organization skills, and culminates in the showcase held on Wednesday. Students retell their loved ones’ stories, each symbolizing a family within Am Yisrael.

With parents, grandparents and great-grandparents in attendance, this deeply personal project honored generations of Jewish men and women who gave so much to bring our students to this time and place, and we are so grateful.

In addition to sharing their projects, the students sang “M’Dor V'Dor” accompanied by Upper School orchestra members and faculty. The song featured an original string arrangement written by Manny Schvartzman, former Scheck Hillel theatre musical director and current associate musical director on tour with the show “Hamilton.”

With great appreciation for the Grade 3 faculty team and all the teachers who supported students along their project journey:
