Scheck Hillel: Home to South Florida’s Young Robotics Engineers
Scheck Hillel Community School was honored to host the Center for Advancement of Jewish Education (CAJE)’s 2019 Grade 4 Robotics Festival on May 6. More than 300 students from nine day schools gathered in the Diener Athletic Center to showcase what they have learned throughout the year via the Robotics Program funded by the Miami/Yerucham Partnership and facilitated by CAJE, a subsidiary agency of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation. The international First Lego League enhanced this year’s festival, facilitating segments, energizing the fun factor, and promoting shared values such as inclusion and teamwork.
Students and faculty from the following schools participated in this third annual event: Temple Beth Am Day School, Brauser Maimonides Academy, The Gordon School of Beth David Congregation, Hebrew Academy Miami, Lehrman Community Day School, Hochberg Prep-Posnack East, Scheck Hillel Community School, Yeshiva Toras Chaim Toras Emes and Yeshiva Elementary School.
Mazal tov to Scheck Hillel’s Team Spacebar for winning the Teamwork Award, granted to the team that best handled adversity and worked together throughout the entire festival. Thank you to Scheck Hillel’s incredible faculty, a collaboration of Grade 4 General and Judaic Studies teachers, guided by Nancy Penchev, who taught and prepared our students this year as I LAB Instructor and Lower School Technology Coordinator.
With community friends from near and far, this annual event reinforces how blessed we are to be a hub of learning and community dedicated to Jewish education for all.
