Lions One Point Shy in Loss to Spartans

The Scheck Hillel varsity football team lost its home opener 12-13 to Miami Country Day School, Thursday, September 27.
Sophomore Yisrael Allouche scored the first touchdown of the game for the Lions off a 3-yard pass from senior quarterback Brian Mars. Allouche  was one of the top rushers for Hillel and added a sack on defense.

The senior class for the Lions came together to make big plays in the game. Hillel was down 0-13 after the half before Allouche's catch but added more points in the game off a quarterback keep from senior David Bonwitt to bring the score to 12-13.

Bonwitt took over at quarterback in the third quarter and moved the ball around on Offense. Defensively the Lions kept the Spartans scoreless for the entire second half of the game. Senior Chaim Cohen had a forced fumble and a couple of sacks while seniors Albert Wolak and Daniel Strimber each picked up an interception.  Senior Benjamin Wolf added over four tackles for the Lions as well.

The Lions return to action Thursday, October 4 in its homecoming game against Somerset Canyons Academy at 7PM.
