Important Message from the Board

Dear Scheck Hillel Friends,

In its commitment to secure a strong and vibrant Scheck Hillel Community School for generations to come, the Board of Governors recently completed an 18-month exploratory process to assess the ideal governance and leadership model for our school.

After much research and discussion within the Board, and with valuable input and advice from our community, professional leadership and nationally recognized consultants, we are excited to announce that the Board of Governors has unanimously voted to adopt a dual head of school model that will elevate both the Jewish values and Judaic life on campus, as well as the academic and operational elements of our school. This new leadership model consists of an equal partnership between the Head of School and a newly created and vital position of Rabbinic Head.

By allocating separate roles and responsibilities between the Head of School and Rabbinic Head, and by having both positions report separately and directly to the Board of Governors, we continue to ensure a strong and vibrant Jewish, academic and operational future for our school.

We are very pleased to announce that Dr. Ezra Levy, our Head of School, will be refocusing his energies specifically on improving the school’s spiritual life and Jewish identity for the balance of this school year and will officially take on the title of Rabbinic Head as of July 1, 2018. We are equally pleased that Vanessa Donaher, our Associate Head of School, will be assuming the Head of School responsibilities for the balance of this school year and will officially take on the title of Head of School as of July 1, 2018.

Over the next couple of weeks, Dr. Levy and Mrs. Donaher will be available the following dates and times in the large conference room for you to drop in to congratulate them and ask any questions about how this will further the continued growth of our students and school community.

Friday, April 138:00am – 9:00am
Monday, April 168:00am – 9:00am
Tuesday, April 172:45pm – 3:45pm
Tuesday, April 248:00am – 9:00am

We have great confidence as a Board, that refocusing our strongest leaders within this new model will empower Scheck Hillel to deepen our commitment to our student-centered mission of teaching and inspiring our children to become global citizens with enduring Jewish identity, while we become the nation’s flagship school for Jewish education. Over the next several weeks, we will share more about Board governance and leadership, as well as other strategic initiatives that will allow us to continue to realize our vision of Building Jewish Future.

Thank you for your continued support and passion that will continue to enable our school to thrive for generations to come.

Sincerely,
Marty Scheck, Alumnus
