Lions' JV Squad Opens the Season With a Win at Home

The Scheck Hillel junior varsity boys' basketball team defeated Dade Christian 47-36 in its season opener at home, Monday, November 27th.
The Lions' played in the first game of the night's double-header against the Crusaders and was led by freshman Issac Almkies who finished with nine points.

Scheck Hillel took an early lead over Dade Christian and finished the first quarter with a 7-5 advantage. The second quarter was also in favor of the Lions who went to the locker room up 19-12. 

Scheck Hillel outscored Dade Christian 20-9 in the third quarter increasing their lead by double-digits. The fourth and final quarter of the game showed great defensive plays from both teams. The Crusaders went on a run to bring the score to within 11 but the Lions continued to hold the lead in the final stretch and ultimately pulled off the win. 

Other key players for the Lions were sophomore Josh Schmutter with eight points as well as freshman Jack Brown and eighth-grader Sky Perez who both scored seven points each. Eighth-grader Daniel Abbo contributed six points in the win while freshman Liam Senker added five.

Scheck Hillel takes on MAST Academy in another double-header, Tuesday, November 28th at 6:00 p.m.
