Lions Defeat the Rams in Double Header

The Scheck Hillel girls' varsity soccer team defeated David Posnack High School 6-1, in a double-header, Thursday, November 16th.
Senior Rachelle Murciano scored the first goal for the Lions in the 10th minute off an assist from sophomore Alexandra Gelman. Less than two minutes later senior Vanessa Gonik increased the scored to 2-0 after putting on in the back of the net. Junior Gabriella Bentolila was credited with the assist. 

Gonik would score another goal for Hillel in the 26th minute putting the Lions up three. A penalty kick from the Rams allowed Posnack to get on the board and dropped the Lions' lead back down to two. 

Freshman Tali Finger's goal in the 33rd minute expanded Hillel's lead back to three before another Murciano goal gave the Lions a four-point advantage. Sophomore Natalie Zarad finished with two assists in the game, as did Bentolila. 

Gonik scored her third and the Lions' final goal of the match in the 80th minute to seal the win. 

Senior goalkeeper Lauren Rub finished with five saves while senior Asia Zanzuri collected one. 

The Lions' play their first district game against Miami Country Day School, Tuesday, November 28th at 5:00 p.m.
