Recognizing Gilinski Hillel Ambassadors

Scheck Hillel Community School hosted the 2017-18 Jaime and Raquel Gilinski Hillel Ambassador Recognition Ceremony and Student Assembly on November 8. In this ninth year of the Gilinski Hillel Ambassador Program, the community celebrated program founders, this year's Ambassadors and families, and students and alumni who were named Ambassadors in previous years, representing nine generations of the school's finest. Ambassadors for the 2017-2018 year are Myles Gilbert (Grade 10), Matias Lancewicki (Grade 11), Lauren Rub (Grade 12), Ilana Stiberman (Grade 9) and Abraham Woldenberg (Grade 11).

In greeting the students and their families, Head of School Dr. Ezra Levy remarked, “It’s often said that Hillel is home, and this morning reminds us of this in many ways. The fine students we applaud today come from supportive families who partner with the dedicated faculty and staff here on campus: our second home. Congratulations to you, our parents, grandparents, extended family, students and new and existing Gilinski Hillel Ambassadors. This program recognizes excellence and leadership, and you are the best representation of it. We are grateful for Jaime and Raquel Gilinski's stewardship of this Ambassador program and for their unwavering commitment to Jewish education.”

Meaningful words from Mr. and Mrs. Gilinski offered inspiration to this year's Ambassadors: "You are exceptional students and with continued effort, leadership and persistence at being the best you can be, your success is not a question of if- but when. Just remember that a little progress each and every day adds up to large results."

The Jaime and Raquel Gilinski Hillel Ambassador Program is the first merit-based scholarship of its kind in Scheck Hillel history. Created in 2009, the program recognizes students in Grades 9-12 who demonstrate their commitment to learning in extraordinary ways. These students are school ambassadors to the extended community because they bring to life the Scheck Hillel mission through accomplishment and talent…whether in the classroom, on the field, on stage or in the community. In recognition of their achievement and with great appreciation for the Gilinski family, mazal tov to these extraordinary student leaders!
