Student Art Gallery Attracts Industry Names, Leaders

Scheck Hillel Community School’s 2023 Art Gallery & Advanced Placement Juried Exhibition amazed visitors with more than 800 works of art produced by Kindergarten-Grade 12 students, showcasing stunning talent and development and attracting art industry names and leaders.

The event drew a distinguished panel of jurors: artists Fela Breef and Romero Britto, and gallery directors Karina Belilty and Shana Benchetrit. They awarded 19 Scheck Hillel High School student-artists with Judges' Choice ribbons for outstanding AP work. The art was among more than 40 portfolios that Scheck Hillel’s AP art teacher Edith Shlesinger submitted to the College Board for Advanced Placement review days prior.

“Recognition from industry leaders is an extraordinary milestone for our artists, and we’re thankful for the jurors’ participation,” said Scheck Hillel’s Head of School Rabbi Ari Leubitz. “Art education is central to our Scheck Hillel curriculum and commitment to creating opportunities for students to pursue their passions and interests.”
