Scheck Hillel Names 2022 Valedictorian and Salutatorian

Congratulations to Gabriela Nicolaievsky  and Zachary Lemmer, who have been named Scheck Hillel Community School’s 2022 Valedictorian and Salutatorian, respectively. Gabriela will attend Duke University. She has been a Scheck Hillel Lion since Kindergarten. Zachary will attend the University of Chicago. He has attended Scheck Hillel since Grade 6. Both plan to major in Economics. 

Gabriela’s honors include AP Scholar With Distinction, National Hispanic Recognition Program, Silver Knight Award Nominee (General Scholarship), the Brown University Book Award and the 2022 President's Award for Educational Excellence. As a campus leader, she has served as National Honor Society President, National English Honor Society Co-Founder, Co-President of Hillel’s CADENA club, Vice-President of National Art Honor Society and the Design for the Community club. She is also a member of the National Science Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics National Honor Society.

Gabriela reflected on her Scheck Hillel experience: "The endless academic, extracurricular, and social opportunities at Scheck Hillel formed me into the individual I am today, and I will cherish my time at the school. Hillel has provided me with an unconditionally loving and supporting home for so many years. I am eternally grateful for the family, friends, and teachers who have guided me along the way."

Zachary’s honors include being named a National Merit® Finalist, AP Scholar With Distinction, Silver Knight Award Nominee (Math) and named to the National Hispanic Recognition Program.  He received the 2022 President's Award for Educational Excellence, the Harvard Book Award, the John Philip Sousa Band Award, and was active in the Pioneer Academics Research Program and Achieve Miami.  Zach is the Vice President of the National Honor Society, the founder and President of Hillel's Achieve Miami Club and is a member of the Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society, National English Honor Society, National Science Honor Society, National Social Studies Honor Society, and the Tri-M Music Honor Society. Zach was one of the first recipients of the Scheck Hillel High School Merit Scholarship: a competitive opportunity for the most accomplished students.

Zach shared, “I am proud to receive this honor, which I achieved through hard work and dedication in school, as well as through opportunities Hillel created for me to succeed.”

Gabriela, Zachary and their Class of 2022 peers will soon join generations of Scheck Hillel alumni - global citizens guided by enduring Jewish identity and values - already making their mark around the world. Mazal tov!
