Scheck Hillel Students Lobby at AIPAC High School Summit

Eight Scheck Hillel students attended the 2019 AIPAC High School Summit this week with their Judaic Studies teacher, Rabbi Uri Pilichowski. They spent two days learning about the issues surrounding the U.S.-Israel relationship and one day of lobbying with Florida Congresswoman Frederika Wilson’s staff. Scheck Hillel students had a unique experience that the other 400 participants weren’t offered. Besides lobbying on Capitol Hill, they were offered an exclusive meeting with the Trump Administration staff at the White House. It was a meaningful trip where our students were both educated and given the opportunity to concretely strengthen the U.S.-Israel relationship.

AIPAC’s Schusterman Advocacy Institute High School Summit is intended for 11th and 12th grade high school activists/aspiring activists who are politically inclined and engaged students with a serious interest in learning more about the U.S.-Israel relationship, are interested in building genuine relationships with their members of congress and are committed to remaining involved in pro-Israel work as campus activists in college.

This student trip to Washington, DC, complements Scheck Hillel's Israel education and Jewish history curriculum, providing a hands-on opportunity to practice advocacy skills. In addition, students learn and lead back home on campus through the school's HIPAC Israel Club (Hillel Israel Public Affairs Council) and other initiatives.
