Take a Gallery Walk: Personalized Professional Development

How do teachers improve their craft? They learn from each other, as schoolwide faculty demonstrated in recent professional development sessions. Teachers presented an exciting array of instructional methods in gallery walk: a strategy that fosters knowledge-building through collaboration and innovation. Like visitors in a museum, learners rotate through exhibits where they can view, listen, ask questions and respond to their colleagues’ work. Along the way, teachers take ideas and concepts from a variety of disciplines and challenge each other to think deeply about their practice. Gallery walks were held in each division this month. Continuous professional development is a priority for Scheck Hillel, and a key way to promote teaching and learning excellence at our school.
