The Scheck Hillel girls' tennis team competed in the District Championships, Monday, April 15 and Tuesday April 16.
Day one of the competition was a good one especially for junior Orli Algranatti who competed in and won both her No. 2 singles matches against Doctors Charter and Divine Savior to qualify for the finals on day two. She won her first match against the Hawks 6-3, 6-1 and her second match against the Sharks 6-4, 6-2.
Sophomore Gabriella Bonwitt won her first match of the competition against Chaminade-Madonna 6-3, 6-2 before falling to Miami Country Day School in the semifinals.
Seventh-grader Edith Koenig and sophomore Celine Werta both made it to the semifinals as well after defeating Chaminade-Madonna and Doctors Charter respectively. Algranatti and senior Raquel Dimitri competed in the No. 1 Doubles against Hebrew Academy winning 6-0, 6-0. Koenig and Werta finished out the day defeating Chaminade-Madonna 6-2, 6-1 in No. 2 doubles to advance to the semifinals.
Algranatti took on the No. 2 player from Miami Country Day School in the finals and lost 6-1. 6-0 on day two. Both doubles teams took on Miami Country Day School in the semfinals and lost 6-1, 6-0.
The girls finish the regular season 3-5 and say goodbye to their two seniors Dimitiri and Alexa Cohen.
