Scheck Hillel Students Package Mishloach Manot for IDF's Lone Soldiers
In anticipation of Purim, Grade 11 students packed Mishloach Manot bags for Chayalim Bodedim (Lone Soldiers) serving in the IDF away from their families abroad. Some of these families expressed their gratitude in heartfelt notes to the students. This Scheck Hillel project generated national enthusiasm and inspired groups across the country to join in so even more lone soldiers could feel the love from American students.
“I am a parent of a lone soldier who is currently stationed near the Golan. I live in Chicago and I wanted to thank you and tell you how touched my son was by the beautiful mishloach manot we received on his behalf. What an amazing, thoughtful gesture this was! I sent Yoni, my son, a picture of the card and the contents of the bag and I will take it to him when we visit Israel shortly. Please convey a special thank you to Naomi T. for the beautiful card she wrote and let her know how happy it made my son's Purim.” -Malka L.
"Thank you for the mishloach manot that you and your students put together for the lone soldiers. We are very fortunate to have our son home with us for Purim. He is home for his month off. His sisters did not see him for a year before this. I did not tell him that you were sending the mishloach manot, therefore he was very excited when he got it.
