Scheck Hillel Names 2019 Valedictorian & Salutatorian

Congratulations to Raquel Dimitri and Matias Lancewicki, named Scheck Hillel Community School's 2019 valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively.

Milestones in their high school careers have included being named Jaime and Raquel Gilinski Hillel Ambassadors, the school's highest honor recognizing leadership and character, and Silver Knight Award nominees.

Raquel is a National Merit Scholar finalist and  a College Board 2018 AP Scholar with Distinction. She is president of the National Honor Society, co-editor of the High School Literary Magazine and a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. She also plays the trumpet in Scheck Hillel’s band and competes on the school's varsity volleyball and varsity tennis teams. For community service, she volunteers with Achieve Miami, among other organizations.

"I am very honored and humbled to be recognized for this achievement and hope to continue to live up to it," Raquel said upon learning of this honor.

Recognized by the College Board as a 2018 AP Scholar with Distinction, Matias has pursued an accelerated, personalized math program since middle school; this year, he is taking an individual college-level course taught by visiting faculty. Matias has also excelled on the soccer field, playing varsity and club soccer. He is vice-president of Scheck Hillel's National Honor Society chapter, and is a leader in CTeen and Friendship Circle. He also attends weekly shiurim (Torah classes) with friends from school.

"I am grateful for all the opportunities Scheck Hillel has provided me to jump ahead. Learning to manage a rigorous schedule of nine courses has prepared me well for college and my future," Matias reflected.

Raquel and Matias will address fellow graduating seniors and the greater school community at Commencement on May 21, 2019. Mazal tov to these dedicated students and their families!
