Technology runs throughout our Hillel campus: as a significant educational tool, as an invisible aspect of our daily work, and as one of the important ways we prepare our students for the future.
Hillel provides students, faculty and staff with the very latest. We use sophisticated networking technology to enable the campus to share information. Technology is continually changing and consequently technology personnel are continually updating their skills, enabling them to incorporate new products into Hillel’s existing technology plan. This ensures that students and faculty have access to the latest developments in technology.
In order to effectively integrate technology into the classroom, Hillel trains teachers in technological advancements in specific subject areas.
Hillel maintains state of the art computers in our labs, library media centers, a distance learning lab and classrooms. These computers are available to students from Lower School through Upper School during the school day, before and after school, and during classes and workshops.
Hillel is integrating a laptop program that eventually will result in all students using laptop computers. Schoolwide spaces like the auditorium are equipped with a networked computer linked to an overhead projector and screen enabling faculty to supplement classroom instruction. Student staffs of projects like yearbook, newspaper and literary magazine are provided with school laptops and practical opportunities to learn about graphic design and desktop publishing.
Library Media Center
The Library Media Centers' computers are linked to the Internet enabling students to do extensive research as a supplement to books, reference materials and periodicals. The library page on Hillel's Web site suggests an extensive variety of links to educational and research sites as well as access to the online catalog enabling students to check availability of materials.
Interactive White Boards
Every Hillel classroom, PK4 through Grade 12, is equipped with an interactive white board. This technological instrument transforms a computer and projector into a powerful tool for presenting, collaborating and teaching. Students eagerly become active participants in problem solving and critical thinking while using the interactive white board, which helps students actively explore subjects and provides them with immediate access to information.
Senior Systems/My BackPack
Senior Systems is an integrated single database and administrative software for K-12 independent schools. Hillel manages office operations through this system, and parents login for grades, homework postings and family contacts through My BackPack, creating direct communication among students, parents and teachers with ease.
By bringing the very latest in technology to Hillel, we uphold our commitment to provide families with excellence. We look forward to enjoying this exciting Hillel enhancement together with you, truly elevating our children's rich Jewish educational experience.
