Lower School Athletics
Mission: The mission of Scheck Hillel's Lower School Athletic Program is to provide all students with the opportunity to participate on an interscholastic team. By teaching fundamental skills and strategies, we are able to imbue values from the Torah alongside with competitiveness, self-discipline and love of sport. Our focus is on developing character, integrity, teamwork and sportsmanship. Our Lower School league is the JAL (Jewish Athletic League), and it includes the following schools: Hebrew Academy, Posnack, Hochberg, Sinai, Lerhman and the Gordan school.
Philosophy: Our philosophies for the Lower School Athletic Program include:
Participation in athletics is a privilege and not a right.
We will teach the “whole” child (mind, body and spirit).
We will allow every student that attends practices and games the opportunity to receive playing time in games. .
Playing time is not guaranteed to be equal. Playing time will be based on attendance, effort, attitude and ability.
Practices and games will typically be held onTuesdays and Thursdays, but may occasionally fall on a Monday or Wednesday.
