Scheck Hillel Appoints New Director of College Counseling

This summer, Scheck Hillel Community School will welcome Jennifer Abreu as Director of College Counseling, as we wish Alexandra Gonzalez all the best upon her return home to New Orleans. Ms. Abreu will work closely with Scheck Hillel college counselor Deidra Bauld to provide our students with seamless support throughout the college planning process. Our team also includes Rabbi Avi Greene, Ed.D, as Director of Israel Guidance, and Cristina Florez as Experiential Learning & Internship Coordinator. The school looks forward to introducing Ms. Abreu to all High School students at our Fall Orientation and Senior College Application Boot Camp.
 
Ms. Abreu joins Scheck Hillel from NIST International School in Bangkok, Thailand, where she was Head of College Counseling. In that role, Ms. Abreu led a team of three counselors, parlaying her deep and detailed knowledge of the U.S. college admission process into best practices in support of individual student needs and interests. Ms. Abreu’s experience is extensive, having worked in various counseling roles.She has cultivated strong working relationships with admissions offices throughout the United States.

Originally from Florida, Ms. Abreu earned a Bachelor’s degree in sociology from Samford University and a Master’s and Ed.S. from Florida State University.
