Hillel Scholars are highly motivated Grade 9-10 students who seek to challenge themselves in rigorous educational experiences within the Capstone Years Program, International Baccalaureate Programme and a traditional Jewish curriculum. They dive into learning environments infused with of creativity and innovation, eager to explore and reach new academic, personal and professional horizons. Hillel Scholars are identified annually through a set of criteria upon the start of each school year.

Who is a Hillel Scholar?
Hillel Scholars have proven academic excellence within a rigorous academic framework. They are eager to explore and reach new academic, personal and professional horizons and are consistently engaging themselves in the most rigorous coursework Hillel has to offer.

What is the purpose?
Hillel’s Scholars are a demonstration of the school’s vision to build a community of students and educators dedicated to scholarship.

How are Hillel Scholars recognized?
Every year, Hillel’s Scholars are recognized in a special ceremony when they are honored in front of fellow Hillel community members. The distinction of this title also is noted on Scholars’ transcripts.

How do students become Hillel Scholars?
Hillel Scholars have demonstrated excellent academic performance in their previous year of school (i.e. Grade 8 or 9) a high grade point average, fine discipline and attendance records, and have met placement requirements to enroll in a high number of Honors and/or Advanced Placement courses each year.

Eligibility requirements for Grade 9 students:
Scholars entering grade 9 must complete Grade 8 with a Grade Point Average of 3.67 (unweighted) or higher and enroll in and complete a minimum of four (4) Honors courses in Grade 9.

Eligibility requirements for Grade 10 students:
Scholars entering grade 10 must complete Grade 9 with a Grade Point Average of 3.67 (unweighted) or higher and enroll in and complete a minimum of four (4) Honors level courses and one (1) Advanced Placement course in Grade 10.
